About our logo

Wabanaki-Labrador Indigenous Health Research Network Logo

At first glance, this concept depicts a sunrise over water. The orange represents Wabanaki territory, the dawn land. The blue represents Labrador and its waters, snow, and ice.

The design of this concept is based on a cross-section of a tree. The many rings represent the histories, languages, knowledges, cultures, and peoples of both territories. These rings represent how communities are building on their own respective histories, languages knowledges, and cultures to develop and lead approaches to research in their own ways.
